Fudgy Walnut Pie


  • 2/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 6 Tbs. Hershey’s Cocoa
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • Dash salt
  • 3/4 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
  • Sweetened whipped cream (optional)


  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Beat butter until creamy in small mixer bowl. Gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks and vanilla; beat until well blended. Stir in cocoa, flour and salt; blend well. (Batter will be very thick.) Stir in walnuts.

  3. Beat egg whites in small bowl, until stiff, but not dry; fold into chocolate mixture. Spoon filling into unbaked pie crust.

  4. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until puffed across top. Cool completely. Garnish with whipped cream, if desired.
